Tanyce Addison is running for the Ohio Senate Seat in the 26th District

Tanyce believes it is time for a new voice to lead that has experience to listen.  Tanyce recently retired from teaching in the public schools  for thirty years.  She directed bands and choirs in the Ridgedale and Elgin Local School Districts in Marion County.  She served as the Education Association president, vice president and secretary and negotiated four contracts.  She still serves as the political action coordinator for Central OEA/NEA.

Tanyce J. Addison is a lifelong resident of Marion County.  After graduating from Upper Sandusky High School she attended The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio earning a Bachelor Degree in Music Education.  While at Ohio State she marched in The Ohio State Marching Band, and sang in the auditioned Ohio State Chorale and Symphonic Choirs.  She still marches with the TBDBITL Alumni.  During this time she also had the privilege of representing The Ohio Cattlemen’s Association as the 1979 Ohio Beef Queen.

She is very active in her church, Emanuel Lutheran, serving as the adult choir and handbell director.  She volunteers in many musical capacities in the community with a special passion for teaching children to love music and to learn to play the piano.

She and her husband Frank, live on part of the family farm where she grew up.  They have five wonderful children, Jami, Valerie, Halie, Lane and Lathan.  They also are proud grandparents of Carter and Hillary.

Cheryl Johncox is running for Representative in 86th House District. Cheryl was raised on one of the last farms in Strongsville, Ohio. When her family was forced off of that property by unaffordable water and sewer changes made by government, Cheryl realized that her love of agriculture and rural living would play an important factor in the rest of her life. A mutual love of the outdoors led Cheryl to her husband Jeff, who owned and operated an outdoor supply and taxidermy shop -- they have been married since 1994. The Johncoxes settled in Richwood to raise their son in a small country town with a rural school system that reflected the same values with which they grew up.

Cheryl has been focused on empowering local communities for some time. After working and diligently saving money, she was able to attend The Ohio State University; while there, she developed her honors research project around connecting River Valley students with their local watershed. She taught them how to sample their local stream, analyze the results, and design a conservation tool to mitigate environmental damage. After completing her degree in Natural Resources, she has continued to pursue similar projects, including training a group of York Center residents to test the water of Bokes Creek in 2008.

Currently the Executive Director of the Buckeye Forest Council, Cheryl has long been active in the community; she volunteered as a Childcare Worker with the YMCA in high school, as a Sustainable Development Fellow with the National Wildlife Federation in college, and as the Director of the Delaware, Ohio Cooperative Preschool as a mother. Now, she helps locally at North Union schools and recently helped set up the Elementary School Wildcat Garden, and assisted teachers in getting the school board approval and writing a grant funding proposal for a future greenhouse.
In the Ohio House, she will be an advocate for her neighbors, supporting economic development, safe environmental policy, and opposing dangerous trends toward consolidation that take control out of our communities. She firmly believes that the farther away government is, the harder it is for it to hear you. Cheryl is running so that someone at the Statehouse will listen.

Jim Slone is running for Congress in Ohio's 4th Congressional District.

Democratic Candidate Jim Slone

If you have met Jim out on the campaign trail, you might have noticed that Jim isn't a 'politician'. Jim is a regular guy who has worked hard all his life. He's a retired auto worker, and he owned a small business. Jim talks with people, not at people. Jim doesn't put on a false front when he's out and about. Jim dresses like the people he hopes to represent. You'll see him in slacks and a polo shirt, or jeans and a sweatshirt, or sometimes in a sweater vest. Jim wants to impress folks with what he wants to fight for, not how he looks. Yes, Jim owns suits and wears them when the occasion calls for a suit, BUT we are not electing a suit to Congress. We are electing a man who talks with people, who cares about their problems, and who shares many of the experiences of the people of the 4th Congressional District.
Biography

Jim Slone is the grandson of a coal miner and of a farmer. He understands what it’s like to owe your soul to the company store. Jim’s family instilled a good, hard work ethic in him from a young age. Growing up Jim had two paper routes and worked on local farms. He also worked at the local gas station. Jim was the first of his family to attend college at Lorain County Community College, while working as a salesman at General Electric Appliance Center in Elyria. Like so many of his generation, Jim followed in his father’s footsteps and went to work at General Motors in 1967. He retired after 35 years of service. This background helps him understand the concerns of local Union members and laborers. He is currently the president of the Lorain County UAW/CAP.

Jim's approach to campaigning and relating to the public makes Jim "well suited" to represent us in Congress.

Jim will help protect the Middle Class by:

** fighting for a living wage and manufacturing jobs

** fighting to save Social Security and Medicare as we know it

** fighting to reduce exorbitant healthcare costs

** fighting for reasonable farm regulations

** fighting to protect family farms

** fighting to fix our infrastructure

** fighting corporate influence in elections

** fighting for honorable treatment of our military veterans

Jim promises to improve communications with district constituents
